Spooks, Inc.

by Juan Manuel Perez

lit-up laundromat
every sundown to sunrise
…not a soul tonight

yet, this cool evening
ignitable energy
purging through the air

something here… breathing
in and out in rough rhythm
…waiting for someone

this should bother me…
yet, I am way beyond that
beyond the living

this life, this passion
is this… now and forever
in wait for an end

steps one… in the wash
steps two… into the waiting
steps three… here… we… go

the business of spooks
these thrills that fulfill this needs
…scaring you to hell
