Hominids and Homonyms
by Kenneth Vincent Walker
Hominids and homonyms,
Harmony with honey bees,
Anomalies which eventually
Are brought to our attention
And having come to fruition.
Anthropology as an analogy
Of Man's diverse dichotomy;
Two halves of a human brain
Make a man whole. However,
As different as night and day.
The Golden Age of creativity
Has escaped Man's captivity.
No time for paint the grave is
Calling, demanding we stop
This frivolous foolishness: La
Renaissance, La Belle Époque,
Died today buried in the mud;
A casualty of World War I, but
Then came World War II after
We were finally through, "The
War to End All Wars," but it is
In Man's warped DNA to lust
For more destruction as the
Animal outshines the Divine
So creativity rots on the vine
Until we have half a mind to
Finally come to our senses.
