Planet of Wasps
by Meg Smith
I will wake, and revel
in the fire-copper of a new sky.
Above, in the splinters of trees,
a new moon is growing in the
scaffolding of paper, spit,
and sleepless sleep.
I will always wake, and raise my
arms to these new sentries,
storm of wings and dark, wise faces,
spinning a new and terrible cloud,
in a new and terrible cloud of worlds.
