Inflation

(a found poem)

by Juan Manuel Perez

[Zombies]: just another commodity
no different from petroleum, pork bellies,
or pig irons [or pigs in a blanket].
[Zombies], like all commodities, can rise
and fall in price depending on supply
and demand. But because [zombies] are by
definition, the one commodity
that is universally accepted
in exchange for every other [type of]
commodity, we have a special term
for a fall in price of [zombies]. We call
it inflation. As the price of [zombies]
falls, the price of every other [type of]
commodity must [absurdly] go up.
