In Dreams of Fossils
by Meg Smith
When all dissolves —
bones, blood,
beak, claws, teeth —
something more remains —
wings in frozen flight,
soundless cries to a sky
still blue in its promise
of sanctuary,
of a young world,
blue, and free.
