Eldritch Spirits
by Brian Barnett
I edge away
and he leans closer
Black cavities where
his eyes should be
His breath whispers
past my face
in a breeze of mildew
and ancient whiskey
He's drunk again on his
eldritch spirits
Blaming me again
for what, I never know
With a vicious swipe
I once again stir him to dust
so he can sleep it off
wherever he lays his head
