Rabbit on His Tongue
by David C. Kopaska-Merkel
He woke from a dream,
the dream, he woke
on his back, legs
pumping, covers crumpled
on the floor,
moonlight streaming in,
squinted at his arm hairs,
erect in the fan’s breeze,
more than usual?
almost a… pelt?
running his tongue over
the business ends of his teeth,
perhaps a mite sharper
than yesterday.
