Dazzle of Dark Matter

by Meg Smith

When you flew from the dimly-lit room,
plenary indulgence in hand, whispers of
a lost comet, the atoms exhaled —
now what?
We have bound up the last threads
of this great life
but only will keep the light now
only I will cast petals
upward in the evening wind
