Darkest Shadows
by Alexis Child
Storm winds watch like death's strong birds.
I stand in the dusk, volcanoes lit up by fleeing
rivers full of blood. I toss my black head where
a hundred chains hang like skulls.
With blind anguish I cannot name, I shield my own
lightness. I had long ago forgotten what home sounded like.
A golden, rusty candle gutters to its death. I am alone. You
speak a word that passes through summer and what I
dreamed feels its way into silence, dipped in the Son's blood.
Summoned to our end, a spirit among spirits is coming.
It's voice is a dim dungeon. Trembling like a star, I wanted
to look out. At midnight, a secret will arrive. But who can
comprehend it? Describe this web of love and hate.
None is wise who has not known the darkness.

form: A calculated crime both against the aspirations of the soul and
affections of the heart. She worked at a Call Crisis Centre befriending
demons of the mind that roam freely amongst her writings. She lived
with a Calico-cat child sleuthing all that went bump in the night and
is haunted by the memory of her cat.
She is currently signed to Nostilevo Records.
Her fiction has been featured in The House of Pain, Lost
Souls, Screams of Terror, Sinistercity, SpecFicWorld.com, The Official
Nephilim Site, and U.K.'s Dark Of Night Magazine. Her
poetry has been featured in numerous online and print publications,
