Jonathan Harker and the Brides of Dracula

by Jean Jones

I have spent the last two days fast asleep in my bed
Why?
Because I have spent the last 4 days with
the Brides of Dracula,
S and K, 2 prostitutes I know
at the Belmont, a motel in North Carolina,

Both S and K live at the Ranch,
an infamous drug house
a few miles from the Belmont, a motel in North Carolina,
and these 2 women, pretty as they are
are the property of the Ranch,
an infamous drug house
a few miles from the Belmont, a motel in North Carolina,
and both are addicted to 2 different drugs-

S is a crack addict so she constantly needs to smoke crack
and K is a heroin addict so she needs to constantly
get heroin tickets, 1, 2, 3, up to 4 tickets a day,
and to get their drugs both women
know how to drain a man's body
of fluid, just like the Brides of Dracula,

And having spent 4 days with
S and K at the Belmont, a motel in North Carolina,
I have had both S and K drain my body
completely of fluid
to sustain their addictions-

It felt great to be drained by
both women at the Belmont, a motel in North Carolina,
but now afterwards,
I realize I needed sleep desperately
and when I woke, I felt I had had all my energy drained
by 2 energy vampires
who also drained my body
completely of fluid
to sustain their addictions-

And I now realize
it might be nice to spend
some time with vampires
and get your body and energy drained
but after a while,
all that's left
is the husk of a body
completely drained of fluid and energy
and like Jonathan Harker,
I find myself lucky
to have escaped from the Belmont,
a motel in North Carolina…
