Faithless Star
by Meg Smith

What core of night,
what scarlet —
falls from within?
What sun retreats,
what morning
of matter and
dark light?
This, I know,
and you know,
even while
looking up.
Hold out your hands.
Worlds scatter,
in a dust
of unquiet hearts.
