The Mirrors of Mars
by Meg Smith
I stood at the foot of
the red mountains —
gentle light,
thin air, cool red dust.
I stood
within a dream, of
a moon in rust.
The ruddy plains
will summon
what we want.
Wise, cold world,
we have made it
what we love
in our waking.
