My Monstrous Apology

by Toni Leamon

I really just wanted the perfect man.
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean any harm.
I didn’t use science, no not at all,
Just some love, affection, and seduction.
I thought I could create a better you
That wanted my body, my soul, my heart.
I didn’t mean to create a monster.

I am not Frankenstein, I swear, I’m not!
My only motive was for you to be
Everything I needed you to be.
But the more I write, the more I realize.
You did not ask to be changed by me,
You had no warning, no chance to say no.
I created the monster that you’ve become,
I am the Frankenstein of your heart and
Now you have revolted against my love.
