What it Means to Love in This Earth
or (After Watching Wings of Desire)
by Jean Jones
Why would an angel choose to be a human and forgo eternity just for the sake of the love of a woman?
Why would an angel give its wings for Earth
when to be living is to be filled with thoughts of death?
Why would an angel become human on this Earth
where time is linear,
when uncertainty is a God,
when people only communicate to themselves,
when desire rules everything
like a sticky honey attached to people's mouths?
Because I suppose
angels never eat,
angels never sin,
angels never know how it is
to be trapped inside the labyrinth
inside a woman,
filled with her desire,
filled with one's hate,
always believing, always hoping
you won't ever
let go.
