EVOLUTION #2

by Richard Tornello

New speech patterns, a new species,
communication
Non-verbal, mental-visual direct to the brain
FOXP2 gene an unnecessary, inconvenient, superfluous weight.

Young lovers across from each other
An intimate dinner setting
Low lights, faces aglow, warm smiles
Texting, no speech, no arguments,
Nuances of civilization ignored.

No need to worry about talking behind your back.
They cannot speak or know how 2 interact.
It’s their fingers, not a tongue, that must be hacked.

Humans no longer know how to talk
Cues unknown, emotions retarded:
Love is an emoji, attached.

Oh baby, oh baby!
