Qualitatively
by JD DeHart
we observed
the slow-moving structures
of life formation
who them became
fast-moving and slowed
again
molecules in the current
scratching our chins
making notes in our field
journals
drawing diagrams of organic
sights and bottling
sounds, lids on tight
moment became day
and day became year
until slowly we looked
back at ourselves
and saw the same motions
the same formations
the same sounds
now captured like lightning
bugs in our own mouths
the same images
emerging from our own
roving eyes.
