Governance

by Michael Ceraolo

On Earth the Lords never consented
to a sharing of power with anyone else
(well, maybe not never, but for a period of time
nearly as long as that of the lifespan
of the Byzantine Empire).
But
the interdependent nature of life
on other astral bodies led to
the creation of different governance structures
on those bodies; the template,
first developed on the Moon,
was a five-person governing board
composed of elected representatives from
the owners, the players, the fans, media entities,
and artists of all types.
The board would decide all matters
that affected the game on their orb,
and
would elect one of its members
to represent the orb in the
solar-system governing council,
which
was responsible for arranging
the Worlds Series and other
solar-system-wide competitions,
and
also had the power to veto
rule changes made on any body,
though such veto power was rarely exercised,
the last time being over a change
the governing body on the Moon made.

by specific governing bodies,
