Drip
by Robin B. Lipinski
Field of bloom released as flowers stun the vision
Winds to carry scent
and bees caress their landings.
For every season there are reasons; debated poetry in words
till
again and again and again, the circle rolls over and over…
Seeds of life begin.
Alien or resident share more than biological material-
allergies and thoughts.
Warring nation against nation and now, world against world
sadly
for them…
A boy, picking flowers, hoping to gain respect with a girl; scratchy eyes and throat
eyes almost closed with itch.
A warrior taking his first step on this planet; suit of environmentally protective armor,
except…
Two apart and strangers.
Two who knew what was in their hearts.
One successful in harvest, the other failed in step.
This boy with his hay fever could hardly breath, could hardly see, but this boy could emit a powerful sneeze.
Snot thrown through the air with ease, and falling.
Falling upon the beginning of war and to the invader, this snot was acid.
Howling in pain as the liquid covered; liquid of pollen, water, salt, and protein: Combination deadly it would seem.
A picture now of a field of blooming flowers, of busy bees and a love struck boy walking away,
leaving a crushed space ship of miniscule proportions and warriors buried in mucus…
A day for earth ending in pollination, satisfied love, failed invasion, and peace.
Happy ending, except, on the ground, one of the aliens was seen moving, a new way, a change?
