Waggish

a waggish emblem. Tolkien’s
unique adjective. The beard
absconded. Grew longer
and flew away. One day
he happened upon the old
whiskers in a bar. They pretended
not to know each other.
The sad dénouement to a difficult,
but close, relationship.
