Full Crossover

by Chelsea Prentice

Tonight I woke in sweat
pouring over remnants of thoughts
that send me into disarray.
Warmth and hope and passion; terrorizing illusions
speak to me in my sleep
only to leave me when I wake.
Tonight I woke in sweat
reaching for forgotten waste
to put back together a humorless meaning to my life.
My window shows darkness
and I know there’s no light where I lay,
and there never will be again.
Shadows no longer follow me;
my fear of light complete,
I wonder where they’ll lead me to next.
