60 to 80 Feet

by Richard Tornello

Million years before we tramped, before our time,
the earth was hot with waters deep 60 to 80 feet
Above what we can now see,
observed,
and this is science and prehistory, agreed
both communities of business insurance and
intelligence military, whose planning needs no politics,
interference,
detract from science facts, and what will be,
not the raging mouths and talking heads politically, what to do with
said facts, plan against land attacks, mobs of humans displaced
land displaced and plan against a land attack.

Rising tides might lift all boats,
rising tides will raze the coast lines change,
politically,
cities crumble beneath the seas
onslaught,
wave upon wave,
human and watery grave,
the situation foreseen yet politically rave and rage on,
the truth both business and intelligence know and have known,
and agree but solution?
What to do about?
The rub
lesser land and even lesser grub
and political stability?

Pissing into the wind
60 to 80 feet deep.
