Lilith Beneath The Moon

by Stephen Jarrell Williams

Lilith showers
beneath the moon,
jungle steaming,
fronds and vines in the mist
reaching for her touch...

She laughs,
returning to the garden
and her friend the snake.

Lilith asks the snake
what more can we do
to make Adam a fool...

The snake makes a list
with the point of his tail
dipping deep into the ink
of Lilith's cold dark heart.
