The Chrononaut

by J. Davidson Hero

"If you expect," he smirked, his unitard
an incandescent mesh of future tech,
"prognostications that a future wreck
your oracles foresee just might be barred
by present human ingenuity...
then I must disappoint." He placed his hands
together. "And you wonder where, it stands
to reason, in all continuity
your epoch ranks. Is this a golden age,"
he chuckled, "with your texts and tweets and posts,
the wild consumerism, the shrinking coasts?
I can't your hopes confirm nor fears assuage.
My trips confirm one truth and I can give
but that: reality is relative."
