Teacher

by Robin B. Lipinski

Her claws extended grasping my innocence.
Scratching away the veneer of childish happiness.
Baring my bewilderment for those others who too once smiled.

Days ago and a millenium of miles ago, I escaped with a complete eduction.
Learning the ways of insanity and life-killing means to fit in.
Trampling the warm blanket of common sense.
Trashing the feeling of parental love.
Taking only the few precious moments of freedom one can have in the toilet.

Her claws, her damn claws though, had left their mark.
Today,
I am now the inflictor of punishment,
I am the teacher.
Today, you will put away you childish dreams and learn.
