The Big Z

by Mike Berger

Able to leap a single level bungalow
in a single bound; more powerful
than a peddle powered tricycle. This
zombie superhero wears a big red Z
on his chest and a tattered red sheet.

Adored by the zombie population,
he leads the fight against vile
dastardly humans. They call him the
Big Z.

Evil humans of a new gig. They use
shotguns and aim for the head. The
blast doesn't destroy the zombie, but they
are utterly useless without a head.

The Big Z's is impervious to shotgun
pellets. The Z complains when hit,
"Damn, that really smarts." Bludgeoning
and thrashing, he tears through the human ranks.

Then came the ultimate confrontation.
The humans brought in their own superhero,
The Man of Steel. The two heroes locked
up in an arm wrestle; winner takes all.

Grunting and groaning, they hit a stalemate.
Neither one would give an inch. They have
been locked together for a week. The war
continues around them.

The Big Z wears an inscrutable smile; he
knows he will win. The Man of Steel
is turning green. He will have to go to
the bathroom any minute now.
