Sizzle
by Robin Lipinski
Born without sense,
so my parents said,
to never feel pain.
Growing older and scarred,
anger at feeling nothing,
showing others I did not care.
Scared of nothing,
in return, no others cared.
Risking more now as much as I dared,
jumping,
climbing,
running,
and still by body never let me know danger.
I will not grow old,
as I grow more, and more bold,
taking a bet at a bar of bravery,
thrusting my hand like steak,
into the hot flame,
hearing, smelling flesh cook,
all to win one-hundred dollars.
