The Outer Inner Limits

by Mark Edgemon

Beyond the freezing darkness past the outer limits of space
There are geological mysteries yet to discover
But within ourselves, there is an even greater darkness to face
And for some, a chilling heart that fervent heat will not melt

Man looks beyond himself to answer his yearning
He seeks greater meaning to validate his existence
He searches the earth; but never with discerning
As well as the limitless boundaries of space

Science fact follows science fiction
Where dreams are dreamed by the creators
The magneto catalyst fires the ignition
But inspiration fires the mind

To uncover mineral secrets in the celestial expanse
One should explore beneath their feet
But to search one’s soul is taking a chance
Challenging one’s conscience is a fiery contention

The quest within should come before exploring without
The coldness and deadness of space
Overcoming one’s fears is what life’s about
Rather than collecting rock samples
