Beneath The Floorboards
by Aurelio Rico Lopez III
The saucer untouched
The milk gone sour,
It was oddly quiet
Considering the hour.
But beneath the floorboards,
Red eyes aglow,
The nest rejoiced
At the fall of their foe.
They squeaked and cheered
While a little girl cried,
For this was the day
Her little kitty died.
