Dragon’s Lady

by Terri Wachowiak

On wings of gold you soared the sky
To save life you turned time aside
But we never knew it was for you we’d cry
Before the long day was over
Before the long day was done

In our time of need you brought us relief
An end to sickness, sorrow, and grief
All unknowing time would take you like a thief
Before the long day was over
Before the long day was done

On wings of gold with a Queen’s stubborn pride
The will of two held the sun in the sky
And a world was saved no more would others die
Before the long day was over
Before the long day was done

But in that cold of the night where none may dwell
When time held stopped in a black bitter Hell
These did two did leap and exhausted there they fell
Before the long day was over
Before the long day was done

The howls of grief and the harsh cries of pain
Of men and dragons for those two now slain
Mourn the loss of two we would never would see again
Now the long day was over
Now the long, long day was done
