The Man of Many Colours
by Mary E Cody
Perhaps he envies the plumage of birds
The lilies of the field
So brilliantly arrayed by God
Perhaps the tattoo he hears
Is of that different drummer
A tribal initiation of brothers
Perhaps the tattoo he wears
Makes him a god, an artist
A canvas of his own creation
Perhaps in this imitation
He will flatter God
