Into the Trap

come forth, she says, to the child
standing there so free and wild
her hand outstretched to the youth
clothed in rags and missing a tooth
a cookie for you, this lovely day
come forward now, come this way
not as scared, he tries not hide
instead comes closer to take the bribe
to fall into the woman's gloating grasp
where no struggle could break this iron clasp
o silly child, how you've fallen into a sticky web
with a spider awaiting your imminent death
