Flamestrike
by Phillip Allcock
A "Before the Dawn" Song
You used to be as family, you raised me as your own.
Walls I've razed around me I was happy to call home.
You gave me love and honour and a promise of a bride,
'Till failure at your petty tests left all that thrown aside.
My eyes were dark, my heart was cold,
With nothing to be seen.
No trace of thought or
Feeling could you ever sense from me.
And so you cast me from your door,
Unfit to wed your kin --
Well, now I'm back to claim what's mine,
And you will let me in, or
Burn!
As the fires of my wrath consume you.
All burn!
To ashes let them reduce you.
You're caught by the flames of my desire
And I'll dance them around your pyre
So burn!
Come down from your high tower, come down and face me here.
You told me I was powerless, so why now do you fear?
Or can you see the fires within me trembling at my will?
That ache to be let loose to dance and play, to burn and kill.
My sight is dark no longer:
Anger flars within my eyes.
My heart burns hot with passion
That you cannot now deny.
Fear not for your life if you
will yield me my desire,
Or will your bride compel you down
To try and fight my fire? to
Burn!
As the fires of my wrath consume you.
All burn!
To ashes let them reduce you.
You're caught by the flames of my desire
And I'll dance them around your pyre
So burn!
The tower door now opens, and he steps outside alone,
Arrogant and sure in spite of everything I've shown.
He asks if I've forgotten that his look alone can kill,
Then his eyes lock on mine, and for an instant all is still...
You should have duelled with weapons, lord,
With swords I might have died.
Yet I still stand, for all the powers of death
That you have tried.
For I am blind to killing thoughts
And deaf to killing pain
But there is no escape for you
Within my storm of flame, so
Burn!
As the fires of my wrath consume you.
All burn!
To ashes let them reduce you.
You're caught by the flames of my desire
And I'll dance them around your pyre
So burn!
