Lepers
by Christopher T. Dabrowski
Translated from Polish by Filip Kiełbowicz
Little Christine sighed dreamily while looking at the models on the
runway. Lithe, good shaped, smooth moves and what is more every one of
them had a perfect waist. Watching them on television and in girl
magazines she started having more and more complexes. Though she was
slim she felt like a fat meatball. She decided to become a model too
when she grew up!
***
The skin closely surrounding Christine’s spine is so thin that it’s
almost transparent. Literally – you can count all the vertebrae. She
should change her name to Vertebranson... But now she really has got a
waist! However she didn’t anticipate one thing... Crack! The upper half
of the body bends, breaks the spine and crumbles into two pieces.
