Whirlpool

by Denny E. Marshall

The aliens land their craft on a small lake with uninhabited islands, surrounded by smooth, white cliffs.

They observe the surrounding area and don’t see much going on.

The aliens scrutinize the half dozen islands around the spaceship. The islands look deserted and the land is brown and barren, although it is possible there are microscopic life forms present. Beside the islands there’s nothing distinctive.

The lake is crystal clear with some sort of clay bottom. There are no life forms visible in the water.

A giant whirlpool develops and sweeps the spaceship away.

Andrew, who is unaware of the flying saucer, flushes the toilet.
