Babylon 5 Station News - July 1997

by Denise Chochrek

Welcome to the ongoing gathering of Babylon 5 fans on Aphelion. I have been wondering if there are any Babylon 5 fans out there. Still waiting to hear any comments or suggestions. Just send them to dcsnowball@earthlink.net.

    Heard on the Net

In answer to the favorite question......we still don't know.

There has been an extension, now we have to wait until July 15, but rumor has it that there is a good chance that Season 5 will be produced. Keep your fingers crossed. Watch the WB page for the latest news.

JMS, the Great Maker, has made history. He is the first person in the history of TV that has singularly written 50 one-hour episodes in a row. Way to go!

Filming has begun on the TNT movie Thirdspace.

The official B5 Fan Club has changed hands. Sandra Bruckner of the Zocalo, and Mike Zmuda of the Centaurian Sentinal will be editing the newsletter. Sandra will also take over the web site. Sandra has done a wonderful job with the Zocalo and I'm sure will do wonders for the ailing fan club. All members who joined before April 1, 1997 will be automatically rolled over to a second year of membership without charge.

For those of you who are following the books, both book #7, The Shadow Within by Jeanne Cavelos and book #9, To Dream in the City of Sorrows, by Kathryn Drennan, are both supposed to be at least 90% canon. I read in the Zocalo a really bad review of book #8, Personal Agendas. If the review is correct, perhaps it would be best to go from book #7 right to book #9. :)

Look for To Dream in the City of Sorrows, by Kathryn Drennan to come out in June. This novel is supposed to be cannon, so I'm sure it will be great. Can't find the books? Try Starboods at http://www.hway.net/dreamin/starbooks.htm.

The new B5 Special Edition trading cards should be available now. Sinclair is in this set and I understand this will be the last time he is in a set. They are almost sold out so don't delay if you want a set. You can get them through a local vendor or comic book store. Another place you can pick one up is at: http://www.supercollector.com

For those who love the work of Christopher Franke (who does the opening credit music), he has a 1996 album called Perry Rodan - PAX TERRA. I understand it is a great soundtrack. Contact: Sonic Images at 800-847-6642 or http://sonicimages.com

Babylonian Productions will be coming out with a new set of comics, but no date yet.

If you are into models, Revel/Monogram will be releasing the Star Fury Mark I kit on 11/25/97, just in time for the holidays.

Hopefully this fall there will be action figures. Supposedly, Toys R Us has the ordering info, so they shouldn't be to hard to find. They are being created by: Exclusive Toy Products at 310-284-5777.
