The Dust Ellipse

by Meg Smith

Now do I contemplate
the atoms of my mother's release.
We fly to the core of stars
from which we first stepped, and breathed,
forming ourselves as worlds, slow, and sure,
in this gray orbit. For her, there is
only brightness, unceasing spark.
