1. the act of becoming fully aware of something as a fact.

Listening to "Temptation" by New Order on cd
waiting to pick up my kids when I realize
this universe, this perspective I have
is mine, and mine alone,
no one else's and no one else will remember this;
not my kids, my friends, no one,
just me. It's my memories alone,
no one else's, and though I might share it,
it only means what it means
to me, and no one else.
As I remember it said from "Bladerunner,"
"I've seen things you wouldn't believe...
all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

Jean Jones received his MFA in Creative Writing Poetry from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio and has had a book published by St Andrews Press out of St Andrews College in Laurinburg, North Carolina entitled Birds of Djakarta. He currently teaches English as a Second Language in the Basic Skills Department of Cape Fear Community College, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
