Mourner

by M Saling

The rain fell glumly
Around an unknown person
Umbrella in hand

Solemnly standing
Like a sad, misplaced mourner
Completely in black

Her face was covered
By the umbrella's black bloom
Held up by white hands

A patch of dead grass
Behind apartment housing
Hidden by a shed

She stood here, waiting
For someone to escort her
Rain bleakly falling
