Emergency Landing

by Denny E. Marshall

The spacecraft needs to make an emergency landing.
The coordinator says to helmsmen. “Why didn’t you land on planet we just passed the next one is inhabited?”
“Going too fast” is response.
Millions of miles later with the ship needing to land soon or it will implode; a blue planet comes into view.
They did not want to land there but had no other options. The heat shields burn as entry into the atmosphere is made.
Once at low altitude the coordinator spots the best landing location for the circumstances.
He tells the helmsmen “Land by that big White House.”

THE END
